English: This true-color image of Earth, without Rayleigh correction, was taken on December 14, 2022, at 02:30 UTC by the Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI) aboard JMA's newly operational Himawari 9 geostationary satellite. After 2,715 days, or 7 1/2 years, of service since July 8, 2015, Himawari 8 was moved to standby orbit at 05:00 UTC on December 13, 2022, and Himawari 9 assumed its role. Himawari 9 is expected to remain operational until at least 2029. |
