DescriptionHimada GopalaSwamyBetta.jpg |
GopalaSwamy temple is believed to be built in 13th century by Palegars of Terakanambi. This amazing temple is about 75 kms from Mysore. According to the legend (and locals) it is covered by mist (hima) all thru the year. Mist clears every once in a while giving way to glimse of amazing surroundings of scenic valleys, gorges and hills like Neeladri, Hamsadri, Garudadri, Pallava and Mallikajunagiri. Interestingly a lake few hundred feet below serves as watering hole to many wild animals and elephants are a very common sight here. |
