| Description |
English: This is a former railway bridge over a former highway. This was the "Stammbahn", Prussia's first railway line, opened in 1838, connecting Berlin and Potsdam. The highway was built in 1940, connecting one of the world's first racetracks, the AVUS with Potsdam. The GDR authorities rerouted the highway further to the east, since the old route crossed the border between the GDR and West-Berlin multiple times. As a transit route, connecting West-Berlin with West Germany, it was an important connection. Nowadays the Autobahn 115, as it is called, connects the inner city ring (A100) with the outer highway ring (A10), and still is an important highway. |
