Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Highfield Hall - a jumble of ancient and modern. I'm unable to find any information about this property, other than it was plainly once a country house, now with various modern bits tacked on. The house has since been converted into luxury apartments. 22 Nov 2008 Update: several website links supplied by a site visitor have provided further information on this mystery property near Fordingbridge. It was apparently the home of a philanthropic Victorian milling magnate, Josiah Reynolds Neave, and was probably built in the late 1860's as the Neave's family residence. By all accounts Josiah was a benevolent employer of people from the local community in a large milling business within the town of Fordingbridge, and also at nearby Bickton https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/61358 . In addition to the milling business, the family were also pioneers in the manufacture of baby foods under the brand name of Farinaceous Foods Manufacturers, whose patrons included the Russian Royal Family. Highfield House as it became known, was converted into a hospital in 1948, and after this, was turned into eight high quality residential apartments (plus one 2 storey maisonette) in 2002.
