English: Higher Town beach - St Martin's This view was short of some foreground interest, so my right leg was conscripted.
The weather on this day was fascinating. We left St Mary's on a sea like a sheet of glass, not a breath of wind and a sky cloudless from horizon to horizon. We expected to roast in the Scilly sun (which feels more penetrating, than anywhere else I know). However it was not to be, as the day warmed the thermals started to form clouds above each of the islands and as there was no wind they stayed there. By noon there was a matching archipelago of white in the sky, with the sea in bright sunlight but all the islands in the shade of their own umbrella. |
