| Description |
English: Hiding behind trees. This WWI pillbox is located in close proximity to another dating from the same period, diagonally across North Walsham Road > 1020890 and presumably is its companion. The structure is not mentioned in the Defence of Britain database unless the location given for several others that have been recorded in this area is inaccurate. It might be the WWI pillbox with the Defence of Britain database reference number S0005684, the location of which is given as TG 2970 3132. It is described as a pillbox constructed in 1914/18, with doors still in place, embrasures set two courses down from roof and fitted with steel shutters. Also mentioned are three holes in its roof which might explain that it is covered with corrugated iron sheeting. The given grid reference, however, would place it at the other side of the road as well as further to the southeast. |
