English: Hitchin Bancroft postcard. early - mid 1950s On the right, GMJ 268, returning to Biggleswade on the 182 service via Arlesey, Shefford and Henlow, a United Counties Guy Arab acquired with the business of Bartle of Potton in 1953 , and subsequently in service with M. Charlton & Sons of Fourstones, Hexham.
GMJ268 saw subsequent service in Scotland with Graham's bus service in Paisley. The photo above can be dated between 1953 and 1955, the short period the vehicle ran in UCOC green. Morris Oxford OUR 53 would have been new in January 1953. The vehicle on the left on the 52B route to Baldock looks like an pre-war FEV registered Leyland TD5 FEV176-9 rebodied by ECW in 1949 and transferred from Eastern National in 1952 |
