...they want their HAIR back! So I was experimenting with some of my BEAR mohair (Steiff Schulte / German Mohair ) which is the shaved goat hair weaved into a strong cotton backing -- versus the lambskins that come on the Tibetian Mohair wigs)... and it really makes a pretty wig too! This might be a good option for the folks who love the look of mohair but get a little barfy at the thought of using lambskin-mohair. With this kind of mohair, the goats are not slaughtered -- please don't misunderstand me, I know that there are villages who use every part of the goat and harvesting their goats is vital to their economy and survival... and I don't have any problem with lambskins. I'm a bearmaker and I work with every kind of mohair. BUT for the Vegan crowd who may be missing out on Mohair wigs, the Steiff stuff is shorn from the goats, they are not harmed at all... it's like shearing a sheep. I bet it tickles, so they probably like it. LOL!! Ha, I don't actually know that. Don't throw vegetables. ANYWAY ... this wig looks so much like my older sister's hair through the 80's... it made me giggle... although my sis's hair was much more carrotty than this ginger colored mohair. And also, my sister's brown backing doesn't show that way, either. |
