English: war memorial remembering the dead of First World War in rural district Hersfeld
Deutsch: Ehrenmal für die Gefallenen des Kreises Hersfeld im Ersten Weltkrieg. Es steht in der Leonardt-Müller-Anlage gegenüber dem Stadtfriedhof. Die Überlebensgroße Bronzeplastik auf einem Kalksteinsockel wurde der Stadt zur 1200-Jahrfeier im Jahr 1935 vom Landkreis Hersfeld gestiftet. Sie wurde am 23. August 1936 eingeweiht und stand damals auf dem "Platz der SA" vor der Kulturhalle (heute Stadthalle). Der Entwurf der Bronzeplastik stammt vom Bildhauer Erich Schmidt-Kestner (1877-1941), gegossen von Max Sperlich in Berlin. |
