English: Main building of the former barracks in Bad Hersfeld (Hohe Luft). Built as barracks for the a motor vehicles unit of the Wehrmacht in 1935. Between 1948 and 1993 it was the McPheeters barracks of the United States Army. Here served the 3rd Squadron, 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment (1948 until 1972) and the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment (1972 until 1993) at the inner German border. Today there is a customs office in this building.
Deutsch: Das Hauptgebäude der früheren Wehrmachtskaseren in Bad Hersfeld (Hohe Luft). Sie wurden 1935 erbaut und es wurde hier die Kraftfahr-Abteilung 9 stationiert. Zwischen 1948 und 1993 war es die McPheeters Kaserne der United States Army. Hier leisteten die 3. Schwadron des 14. US-Panzeraufklärungsregiment (von 1948 bis 1972) und das 11. US-Panzeraufklärungsregiment (von 1972 bis 1993) ihren Dienst an der innerdeutschen Grenze. Heute ist in diesen Gebäude eine Zolldienststelle untergebracht. |
