Summary
[edit]DescriptionHerbert Volcano Caldera (16143752773).jpg |
Herbert Volcano Caldera — This gorgeous view, taken back in August 2014, is of the summit caldera of Herbert volcano within the Islands of Four Mountains (IFM) in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. This rarely visited, and little known volcano, shows evidence of youthful eruptions although none are known of in historic time. The small patch of wasting glacial ice at the lower-left has receded in the last few decades to expose active fumaroles (lower-right, light colored patch of ground).
