Description

Casa solariega blasonada de los Danvila en Villarcayo de Merindad de Castilla (Burgos) Situadas en la calle Santa Marina nº 6 - 12. Nos hablan de la importancia de Villarcayo como lugar de residencia de las más linajudas familias de las Merindades. En la segunda Guerra Carlista fue incendiado el pueblo y desapareció parte del vestigio antiguo de la villa. Las únicas casas que sobrevivieron son las casas de la familia Díez Isla y de la familia Danvila de los siglos XVII y XVIII.

La mayoría de los pueblos de la Merindad conservan el legado de su pasado glorioso. Las torres, los palacios, las casas fuertes y las casonas blasonadas se mezclan con una arquitectura popular que hereda los rasgos de la casa montañesa. Lugar de residencia de las más linajudas familias de las Merindades: Salazar, Varona, Saravia, Pereda, Rozas. En la segunda Carlistada fue incendiado el pueblo y desapareció parte del vestigio antiguo de la villa.
