Heraldic harness Pendant: Maltravers |
||
Description |
English: A cast copper-alloy harness pendant and hanger. The harness pendant is square with a central domed rivet still in place and hanger intact. The hanger is rectangular with two large pierced lugs either side of it. The bottom is folded over to form the hinge. Both pieces have tiny raised rivet-heads at the four corners; it is not clear whether these were functional or decorative. Both hanger and pendant bear a design of a single gilded fret on a black ground, with traces of gilding and enamel extant. The arms were originally sable fretty or. Measurements: Attachment plate width 36 mm to outside of lugs; 33.5 mm long including hinge loops. Pendant 26 mm x 33 mm including suspension loop; 1 mm thick; central rivet 4 mm long x dome head 6 mm diameter. |
