Description

The Naval Review, Spithead, 11 August 1853.

The Victoria and Albert steamed alongside the Duke of Wellington, Her Majesty, accompanied by the Duke of Cambridge, the Duke of Wellington, and other members of her suite, descended into the Royal barge, and was rowed up to this monarch of the British fleet, the Royal standard floating in the breeze. The Prince of Wales, Prince Alfred, the Princess Royal, Princess Alice, Princess Helena, and Princess Louisa, remained in tie Royal yacht. A few minutes elapsed, and Sir T. J . Cochrane, K.C.B., the Vice-Admiral, and Captain Byam Martin, in full uniform, were on the steps of the ladder, and her Majesty and the other Royal visitors went on board the great Duke of Wellington.
