On April the i6th The Belles Stratagem was revived, with Mr. Irving as Dori-court,-and Miss Terry as Letitia Hardy, Mrs. Cowleys comedywas acted until May, in conjunction with The Cup. On Mayand, Mr. Edwin Booth appeared at the Lyceum Theatre asOthello to the lago of Mr. Irving, Miss Ellen Terry playingDesdemona; and, on May 9th, the two actors changed parts, Mr.Irving acting Othello, whilst Mr. Booth played lago. The con-junction of these two distinguished artists was an event of rareinterest; and the contrast of their gifts, and the general excellence

Othello was acted onthe Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in each week; on theintervening nights, The Cup an<^ The Belles Stratagemmade up the bill. On June 18th Hamlet was played. It wasthen acted thirteen times. The performances which concludedthe season were The Bells, The Belles Stratagem, TheMerchant of Venice, Eugene Aram, and Charles I. Dur-ing this season, The Cup had been represented one hundredand twenty-seven times, The Belles Stratagem thirty-six,and Othello twenty-two. Mr. Irvings benefit took place onJuly a3rd, with The Bells as the principal attraction. Mr. J.L. Toole also contributed to the evenings entertainment, andMr. Irving and Miss Terry appeared as Modus and Helen in thewell-known scene from The Hunchback.
