Miss Alice M. Longfellow,
Craigie House, Cambridge Mass.
My Dear Friend;
It has been quite a while since I wrote you, but I have not forgotten your kindness to me and our school.
Your XMas present was received, and [p. 2] was highly appreciated I am so glad that we have friends in the north that are thinking about us down here in the black belt.
I suppose that you know that I have completed the course of study here, and am employed by the school, I hope to help Mr Washington all that I can to elevate [p. 3] our race.
I have not been able to take a Holiday as yet, my work is of such, that I cant leave it,
All of the students seem to have had quite a pleasant time. They appreciate the XMas cards very much that were sent down here by friends in the north.
[p. 4] I wish very much that you would visit our school, and see the work we are doing down here. I wish you a Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
