Henri Bouley est surtout connu aujourd’hui pour avoir été le défenseur brillant et l’apôtre ardent des découvertes et des théories de Louis Pasteur. L'auteur de la représentation est Louis-Georges Neumann, professeur de parasitologie à l'Ecole vétérinaire de Toulouse, auteur du livre Biographies vétérinaires, avec 42 portraits dessinés par l'auteur 435p., Paris : Asselin et Houzeau, 1896, d'où est tirée cette représentation.
