Description
English: Two years after the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Saint Francis de Sales Seminary was established in 1845. Archbishop John Henni founded the seminary to meet the demand for German-speaking priests in the Wisconsin Territory. Constructed in the Italianate style, Saint Francis de Sales is one of the original Roman Catholic seminaries to erect in the United States, and remains the oldest to stand in existence today.
