Description
English: The Hempstead Bank Building, located at the corner of Main Street and Fulton Avenue in the Village of Hempstead, Long Island, New York, was formally opened on Monday, 11 January 1909 following an open house for the public two days earlier (see Brooklyn Daily Eagle, “New Hempstead Bank Building,” 12 January 1909). It was designed by architect J. Warner Allen and constructed by Tidewater Building Company. Its namesake bank moved out decades ago and, according to a July 2020 report by AKRF, Inc., it is vacant. This photograph was taken November 2020.
