Summary
[edit]DescriptionHemel Hempstead, Royal Mail Delivery Office - geograph.org.uk - 1247569.jpg |
English: Hemel Hempstead: Royal Mail Delivery Office Presumably all mail with an HP* postcode gets delivered from the Royal Mail's Delivery Office here in Park Lane. The building has distinctive white clad roofs and walls. Although these must have looked brilliant on the architect's drawing board and when the building was first constructed, over time they have attracted a dark green fungal growth which makes the whole building look drab and dirty, far more so in some places on the cladding than is visible here. This building no longer exists as it was demolished in 2012 and the Mail Centre moved to Maylands Avenue in Hemel Hempstead. The Delivery Office actually only used to deliver to the HP1-3 area, but all mail for the HP postcode passed through the office on its journey to various other Delivery offices in the HP area. |
