[edit]DescriptionHello stranger - geograph.org.uk - 1127152.jpg |
English: Hello stranger. Haflinger horses grazing a pasture beside King's Beck which flows into the River Bure a short distance southeast from here. The horses belong to Oxnead Haflinger Stud. – The Haflinger is a small horse breed that originated in the mountains of Tyrol/Austria. The name is derived from the village of Hafling, located in Austria prior to the end of World War I, but now belonging to northern Italy. The origins of the breed can be traced to the year 1874 and to the stallion, "249 Folie," out of a native Tyrolean mare and sired by the half-Arab stallion "133 El' Bedavi XXII." All purebred Haflingers trace their lineage to this stallion. Oxnead is the largest Haflinger stud in England. |
