It was a strongly-built residence with a vaulted roof, andcontained two large recejDtion rooms, besides some smaller apart-ments. It was built by the Conollys of Castletown (who thenowned the surrounding land, and enclosed a considerable extent ofit as a deer park), with the idea, it is said, of its being a pointof view from Castletown. The only indication of its occupation isan announcement of the death at Mountpelier, in July, 1751, ofMr. Charles Cobbe, the elder son of the Archbishop of Dublin atthat time.
