A common Muscid fly, the larvae of which are found in cow dung, rotting tree stumps, old hornet's nests, and moss. Not sure what they found suitable in my garden, but the fly was found recently deceased in my conservatory. There is only one previous observation of this species in East Suffolk on the NBN Gateway. The ID was confirmed by Laurence Clemons - see www.dipteristsforum.org.uk/t3751-Helina-duplicata-reversi... Info for the record: Herlina reversio UK, East Suffolk, Ipswich Ipswich: Christchurch Park area TM16644502 19-Apr-2014 M Cooper found indoors. |
