Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A Chinook Mk 6 from 18 Squadron, RAF Odiham and Puma HC2 from RAF Benson fly over RAF Halton during a graduation ceremony.

The Chinook Mk 6 is a highly versatile support helicopter that can be operated from land or sea bases into environments from the artic to the desert or jungle. It can be armed and is fitted with self-defence equipment allowing it to operate across the battlespace.

Chinooks are primarily used for troop transport, resupply and battlefield casualty evacuation. In addition to a war fighting role, the Chinook's lift capacity is used in civil emergency situations in the UK.
