Summary

[edit]
Description

The He162 was the fastest of the first generation jets, and was of wooden construction. Named 'Spatz' (Sparrow) by Heinkel, the construction programme had the name 'Salamander', although it was officially called the 'Volksjäger' (people's fighter). After many years on display at the Imperial War Museum in Lambeth, London, this example is now on permanent display at Duxford airfield. Imperial War Museum, Duxford. UK.
