Summary
[edit]DescriptionHebrew cemetery 02.jpg |
English: Detail of cast iron fence surrounding the Soldiers Section at Hebrew Cemetery. The fence posts are groups of stacked muskets. The fence consists of sections of crossed sabers with a wreath. The 30 original individual markers were removed in 1950 and replaced by the granite memorial (shown at the right rear) which contains a list of the individual soldiers. The fence was designed by William Barksdale Myers, a former Confederate engineering officer starting about 1871. It is considered to be a notable 19th century design in Richmond.[1] |
