Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The first winter storm of 2023 brought heavy snowfall to southern Germany and parts of Austria, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic, leading to travel disruptions across the region. Munich airport declared a halt to air traffic on Saturday 3 December and Zurich’s airport also announced weather-related delays and flight cancellations. In this image, acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-3 satellites on 3 December, the snow covering the Alps and southern Germany is shown in red tones. The Copernicus Land Monitoring Service product portfolio includes Snow & Ice (HR-S&I) Monitoring products, which provide high-resolution (20 m x 20 m) information derived from Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite data on snow and ice conditions in the 38 member states and Cooperating Countries of the European Environment Agency.
