Ils grandissent généralement pendant un certain temps et disparaissent ensuite sans traitement. Ils ne causent pas de problèmes chez la plupart des nourrissons. Cependant, certains hémangiomes peuvent s'ouvrir et saigner ou s'ulcérer. Cela peut être douloureux. Selon leur taille et leur emplacement, ils peuvent être défigurants. En outre, ils peuvent se produire avec d'autres anomalies du système nerveux central ou de la colonne vertébrale. Les excroissances peuvent également se produire avec d'autres hémangiomes internes.
