Description |
English: Copper alloy Brooch. Headstud Brooch. Cast fragment comprising tubular wings enclosing an axis bar; there is a slot for a hinged pin (lost). A small round stud is set on the crest of a bow of sub-rectangular section; below the stud there is a sunken rectilinear panel along the ridge of the bow; though perhaps intended to retain enamel no trace of colorant remains. Suggested date: Early Roman, 75-150. Length: 24.8mm, Width: 21.4mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 5.2mm, Weight: 9.32gms |
