Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Hazel catkins or lambs' tails These familiar yellow tassels are the male flowers that release their powdery pollen as they dance on the breeze, while the inconspicuous female flowers on the same twigs, wait for it to blow their way. The association with lambs is not only visual, since the hazel flowers during the lambing season, and its pollarded shoots were traditionally usedto make the hurdles that formed the lambing pens.
