rs, hunters and In-dians, and was made famous by tlie Nez Perces Indianraid through the Park in 1877, when followed by Gen-eral Howards command. The earthworks of the lat-ter are still intact near the west approach to TarghePass. Centennial Valley, first settled in 1876, is an ideal 42 YElvIvOWSTONI^ NATIONAL PARK. home of the rancher and one of the finest stock rangesin Montana. Red Rock Lakes are one of the mainsources of the Missouri River and are over 4,000 milesby the course of the stream from the Gulf of Mexico. A few miles east of Red Rock Pass in Idaho is HenryLake. Its outlet is one of the main branches of SnakeRiver, which finds its way into the Pacific Oceanthrough the Columbia River. Both Henry and RedRock Lakes are breeding grounds for ducks and geeseand afford excellent sport for hunters during the sea-son. Trout and grayling are found in abundance inthe streams and lakes in this vicinity. The TetonMountains are in plain view from Henry Lake, sev-enty-five miles distant.
