view of both canyon and falls may be had, and is nowrendered accessible by a bridge over the Yellowstoneabove the Upper Falls, which enables one to make asatisfactory inspection of these numerous attractions;among which an eagles nest, situated upon an inacces-sible crag, fully compensates for the trouble of bring-ing a fieldglass, in the interesting study it affords the be-holder. With respect to scenic effects, that obtainedin the morning from Inspiration Point and that in theafternoon from the brink of the Great Falls, are con-sidered by many the best. However, each and everyhour produces an effect of light and shade possible forno artist to portray. Believing that the purposes of a Guide Book are bestsubserved by confining its scope to plain descriptivestatements, calculated to enable the reader to readilyfind, and recognize when found, the subjects concern-ing which it treats, all attempts at word pictureshave been rigidly excluded from this little hand-book.
