Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Place: Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

Chinese name: 华泰宝利格 (huátài bǎolìgé) Year of launch: 2010

Hawtai, formerly romanized as Huatai, was founded in 2011 by the Chinese entrepreneur Zhang Xiugen. Like JAC (Jianghuai), Hawtai started as a partner of Hyundai and initially manufactured the Hyundai-branded SUVs Santa Fe and Terracan from 2003, which were also sold under its own name from 2004. Hawtai planned to buy manufacturing rights of the Saab 9-3 from Spyker Cars in 2011, but the deal fell through. Hawtai launched its first indigenous developed car in 2010, the B11 sedan (later renamed Lusheng E90). Later models include the Baolige B35 (based on the old Santa Fe that's trying to look like the first generation Porsche Cayenne), the smaller Hawtai B21 sedan (originally launched in 2010, later renamed Lusheng E70/E80, now Lusheng WS55). The new Shengdafei (the Chinese name for the old Santa Fe) was launched in 2014. It comes with a 1.5T petrol and 2.0 diesel engine.

The Hawtai B35 was launched in 2010 and went into production as Hawtai Boliger (Baolige). It is an SUV based on the first generation Hyundai Santa Fe which draws inspiration from the first generation Porsche Cayenne.
