Description
English: Hawk Bridge The bridge carries the railway line from Ely to Ipswich, Stowmarket and Newmarket over the River Great Ouse. This view was taken from the public footpath which turns off the A142 road (Stuntney Causeway), following the river in southerly direction.

The bridge replaces an older one > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/471655 which was severely damaged by a freight train in 2007:

"Eleven wagons were left hanging over the Hawk Bridge on the River Ouse when the EWS freight train derailed between Ely Dock Junction and Soham on June 22, 2007. The railway line between Ely and Bury St Edmunds and the affected stretch of the river were closed to traffic for six months following the derailment." http://www.newmarketjournal.co.uk/soham/Ely-train-crash-report-released.4946944.jp
