I bakgrunnen kan sees Aktiebryggeriet (i dag E. C. Dahls Brygger) og Lade kirke. Ved sjøkanten kan sees Isidor Nielsens Mekaniske Værksted.

Fabrikkeier Isidor Nielsen (1874 - 1956) var opprinnelig fra København og kom til Trondhjem 1899 som den københavnske motorfabrikant Jørgensens representant i Norge. Nielsen regnes som Norges første importør av bensinmotorer. I 1901 startet han Isidor Nielsens Mekaniske Værksted, som leverte motoren til Roald Amundsens ekspedisjonsbåt "Gjøa". For øvrig leverte også et annet Trondhjemsfirma varer til Roald Amundsens Gjøa-ekspedisjon, nemlig hermetikkfabrikken Trondhjems Preserving Co.
