Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Havasu Falls is the jewel of Havasu Canyon, located on the Havasupai Indian reservation in Arizona, USA. Havasu Canyon is a section of the Grand Canyon and the falls are typically reached by a hearty ten-mile hike down a winding canyon trail. The breathtaking beauty that awaits the visitor - multiple falls, emerald waters, sheer sandstone cliffs - more than makes up for the difficulty getting there. Image captured with a Fujifilm Finepix S5000 camera and a normal lens. Focal length: 5.7; f number: 4.5; exposure time: 1/480.

Havasu Canyon, deep in the Arizona, USA, desert, can be easily among those few natural wonders that people would think of as otherworldly, a little bit of paradise on earth. It can be discovered on the Havasupai Indian Reservation after a ten-mile hike. Coming through an arid, sometimes dusty terrain, and through the Havasupai Indian village of Supai, the vistas open up to jaw-dropping waterfalls and a pristine flowing creek. Havasupai means the people of the blue-green waters. The most striking element of the waterfalls is the turquoise water in the catch basin and downstream. The color is caused by calcium-carbonate that formed the limestone lining the creek. Image captured with a Fujifilm Finepix S5000 camera and a normal lens. Focal length: 5.7; f number: 4; exposure time: 1/400.
