A Long Life as a Soldier—He Won Many Medals.

A recent issue of the Toronto Globe contained a photograph of Corporal Janies Wilson of this city, and the following -reference:

Corporal James Wilson of Stratford, better known locally as “Shooting Jimmie,” was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Sept. 21, 1829. He landed in Montreal in 1852, joined the militia at. Baker’s Corner, 4th concession, East Williamsburg, under Capt. Jas. Baker, in 1857, the volunteer Grand Trunk Railway Rifles in 1866, and the 49th Battalion, Hastings, Rifles, in 1872 under Ca.pt, P. H Harnb’y, Sir Mackenzie Bowell being the major of the battalion at the time. He served a so in the 29th Waterloo Battalion at New Hamburg, and is now on the detached service of the 49th Battalion. Corporal Wilson has had twelve children, - six sons and six daughters, ten of whom are living, his five living sons being on the ro1! of the 28th Battalion. as also are two grandsons, while his deceased son. Corporal John W i’son, was buried with military honors at Stratford in 1888. Like himself his sons are expert marksmen. In all, Mr. Wilson has won 125 prizes with the Snider Enfield rifle, including medals and cups. He hears medals for service in the Fenian raids of 1866 and 1870, and nothing has given him greater pleasure than his Tong connection with the volunteer force in Canada.
