Description
Deutsch: Gedenkstein an die Gefallenen während des Schleswig-Holsteinischer Krieg (1848–1851) in Haseldorf.

Auf dem Gedenkstein sind die Worte eingemeißelt:

“Zur Erinnerung an die Erhebung unseres Volkes am 24. März 1848 ist diese Doppeleiche gepflanzt. 1898. Deine Väter einst stritten um Freiheit und Recht. Nun wahre es würdig, du junges Geschlecht.”

Haseldorf war damals nicht deutsch, sondern dänisch. Deutsch gesinnte Schleswig-Holsteiner setzten sich für die Schaffung eines selbständigen, vollkommen von Dänemark unabhängigen deutschen Bundesstaates Schleswig-Holstein ein. Der 24. März 1848 blieb in Schleswig-Holstein als Tag der Erhebung gegen Dänemark im Gedächtnis. Soldaten der Kieler Garnison und Freiwillige überrumpelten durch eine List die bis an die Zähne bewaffnete Festung Rendsburg. Soldaten, Unteroffizier und 65 Offiziere liefen von den Dänen zu den deutschen Schleswig-Holsteiner über.
