日本語: 1940年5月、利行は三河島の路上で血を吐いて意識不明になって倒れているところを発見され、5月17日、東京市養育院板橋本院へ収容された。その約半年後の10月12日に亡くなるまでの間、利行は同院に収容されていたが、その間に、矢野文夫と天城俊彦、衣笠静夫、海老原省象らが見舞いに来たことが知られている。上記図録には写真の出典は書かれていないが、矢野が利行の死後に書いた著書(矢野文夫『長谷川利行』美術出版社､1974年)に、利行を見舞った際に写真を撮ったことが書かれており、その時の写真だとみられる。その他に、養育院での利行について、天城俊彦が 『長谷川利行画集』(明治美術研究所、1942年6月)内の文章「故人追想」で簡単に触れている。
