It seemed that the country folk dancing, and a booth for the sale of spruce-were on their way to the Gathering of beer, crackers, and cheese. The averagethe Clans, a rare national picnic. But this Gathering of the Clans, al-though a private speculation for collect-ing money wherewith to build a house,was a more important event. It was ad-vertised that a noted professional wrestlerwould contend with an equally ableyoung man of the lake, and that the af-fair would present many other attractions.From 9 A.M. until 3 P.M. the entertain-ment consisted of dancing and waitingfor the professional wrestler. Each of theplatforms had about it a large crowd look-ing at the reels and jigs and the piper.The dancing went on
