Title |
Harness pendant |
||
Description |
English: A cast copper alloy shield-shaped harness pendant. The suspension loop is intact, but slightly twisted. The artefact is in good condition, with a dark verdigris patina and a fairly smooth surface. The pendant has a slightly unusual shape, with a rounded bottom portion. The face has an integrally-cast design in the form of a cross pattée which stretches almost to the edges. Tiny amounts of red enamel survive within the cross, and the rest of the face bears traces of what may be silvering. I. Szymanski has identified this as the arms of the Knights Templar; this pendant originated in Spain, indicated by its shape. This artefact dates to the 13th century. |
