Notes Harness of the dog "Oscar", a canine member of the Shackleton Expedition to the Antarctic, 1914-1917, the Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition. Oscar was one of only three dogs to survive the expedition and was part of the Ross Sea sledging party… about which it was said “the dogs were heroes - Oscar, Gunner, Con, and Towser would save their (the sledging party) lives”. Later the three surviving dogs were brought back to New Zealand and retired to Wellington Zoo.
