Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Harlaxton ironstone railway: reversing point at Swine Hill. The Harlaxton railway zig-zagged up the steep escarpment with a reversing point part way up Swine Hill. The embankment is now overgrown by trees. On 4 July 1951 the locomotive "Grantham" lost control of a heavy loaded downhill train, plunged off the end of the embankment and ended up at the edge of the road just here. No one was hurt. See other photos nearby for more on the Harlaxton and Denton railways and quarries.
