The children huddle close to each other in fear. The Witch's baking oven is pictured on the left of the composition. The rocks and tree on the right feature leering faces, suggesting that the environment is haunted. The postcard is probably a publisher's promotional item, featuring an example of the high quality reprints available from the B.G. Teubner firm in Leipzig.
