Meta Maren (1885-1973) was the daughter of Ida Juliane and Hans Andersen Brendekilde. She married Thorkild Frederik Christian Funder-Schmidt and took his surname. Brendekilde painted her sitting at Odense Å in Fruens Bøge on a spring day in 1901.
