English: Leifeng Pagoda.
The original pagoda on this spot, along the southeastern shore of West Lake, was built in 971-973 AD by the local ruler to enshrine a hair relic of the Buddha. Due to its ruined condition, the modern restorers took the unusual step of building a completely new structure that encloses and protects the original foundations. |
