Summary

[edit]
Description

U.S. and Australian Governments unite to reconstruct and rebuild schools in Sumatra. U.S. Ambassador Scot Marciel joined Australian Ambassador Greg Moriarty in Padang, West Sumatra to handover 34 West Sumatran schools jointly reconstructed and rebuilt with $10 million from the two governments. The schools, destroyed by the September 2009 West Sumatra earthquake, were rebuilt to meet Indonesian earthquake resistance standards under the policy to “build back better.”
