It is to be hoped that thegeneral revival of Applied Art will lead to the attainment of high-class results in this branch also. Plate 210. Modern Drinking Glasses. 1—11. Various modem Glasses for water, wine, and beer, of \vhiteand coloured glass. Plates 191—210 present some 50 different classes of vessels in nearly600 specimens. But even this copious material was far from permittingevery form to be taken into consideration. The first place was accordedto definite groups and to conventional, ever-recurring shapes; while thearbitrary, sporadic, accidental, and barocco, were excluded. Still, it ispossible that we have not succeeded in giving a general view of the groupof pottery and vessels. Readers who desire to pursue their studies furtherare referred to the special works and periodicals dealing with this subject.
