CHIMNEY BREASTS AND PILASTERS. All flues and hollows in chimneys four feet or less in area to be measuredsolid. When larger, deduct one-half contents of flue. For all chimney breasts and pilasters add eight inches to face for each cornerand multiply length so obtained by width (projection). Detached chimneys in buildings and plain chimney tops to be measured solidand one half of one cubic foot to be added for each corner for every foot in height. STACKS. Chimney stacks at special rates. When square, find cubic contents, measuring hollow walls solid, and deduct-ing flue. When round or octagon, take length of diameter for side, and measure asthough it was square. 61
