Description |
This chalk drawing by PH Gosse shows a section of the sponge Halichondria suberea (now known as Suberites suberia). This species was first described by George Montagu whose shell collection is held at RAMM. Gosse described the internal structures of this sponge at length on page 386 of his book ‘Evenings at the Microscope’ and included a line drawing almost identical to this chalk drawing. |
